Open Data in Education
The first lines of computer code you ever write can analyze education data with free machine learning tools.
Sharing data and sharing code is critical to education and education research. Reproducibility, transparency, and peer review depend on it. Furthermore, many schools cannot afford non-free resources.
There exist powerful, professional, popular, and free software tools that can be used in education research and science. In this workshop, learners will get hands-on experience running a few lines of computer code on their computers. This code will open a spreadsheet of education data, and perform a machine learning analysis on it using free software tools. Zero programming experience required!
Participants must bring their own laptop with them to the workshop. Prior to the workshop, students must install Python 3.5 (or higher) on their laptop. Click here for more details on installing Python.
